We need to be the change we wish to see in the world... My mind is always full of thoughts and somehow my laziness got the best of me. But I think now it is important for me to just pen down these thoughts... This blog for me is a chance to go back in time and read what I thought then...

My white that might have got lost

From time and again we are made to realize that my shirt is not as white as yours. I think all the rins and wheels ensure that we search for the perfect white. And they do so by challenging our concept of white or should I say pure white. But even though I may write an essay on how this marketing gimmick is to fleece people, somewhere I am amazed by its effectiveness. There is a contender who says everything is perfect in his/her world and then there is us. But have you ever thought that the only white we should be worried about is the one that we rarely seem to notice nowadays. It is the white we see in our flag.

There is a reason and some significance of all the colours that collectively make our flag what it is; where Saffron is a symbol of courage, White stands for peace and honesty, Blue is truth and loyalty, vigilance, perseverance & justice and Green represents hope, joy, fertility and love. But frankly how many us would actually know this, I for one had to take help from always-dependable Mr. Google. I know this by any standards is not acceptable, but at least I don’t claim to be an epitome of true patriotism like others who behave as if they were born to hold it high; well only on the Independence or the Republic Day rest of the days the flag would just be part of their bureaucratic offices. I agree my knowledge limits only to the colours that constitute the flag, but at least I don’t dream of just the Saffron or the green on my flag, I may not know the significance but I do know my flag is nothing without any of these colour’s together.

Why don’t we stand up against all those who claim to be tigers (Shiv sainiks); who may sometime hold the lotus (BJP) or sometimes may be content with shaking hands (Congress), if not that they fight with their clan and decide to trouble us further with another unit (MNS) of their own, why don’t we stand against all those who call you a minority (Muslim League) in your own country. And frankly would you really want these dissemblers to tell us what to do especially after the valor that we common people exhibit during terrorist attacks time and again. These guys are ever ready to come out on the road for something that can give them political mileage, in fact after every attack they came out to talk about the government rather than the people who lost their lives. The only colour they know is the colour of power. There is a grimace of cruel malignity that lits up their faces when ever they hear of another opportunity to take on the opposition…

The future generations should only understand one colour and that is colour white.

We need to be the change we wish to see in the world

Ever wonder what life would be if you had changed something 5 years back. I am sure we all will manage to come up with at least one thing, if I am asked to change something in the future I will raise my hands and say impossible. But what if I am asked to change one thing today in such a way that I do not need to ever make any changes in the future which would also result in me not wanting to change my past. It is a convoluted thought but a simple mantra for blissful life.

It seems like a difficult task because we are so rigid that change only looks good on others. All of us time and again talk about change. All of us at some point in time have changed; whether we changed our fashion sense, our behaviour, our jobs, our homes, our friends, our career etc. We all have been party to the most commonly used and misunderstood phrase “Change is the only constant”. Misunderstood I say, well the change that we are talking about here is not the change that we see but the change that we feel. The phrase that is most apt is “We need to be the change we wish to see in the world”. And that can only come from within.

I need to change myself to be a better me, change that can ensure that I am happy with myself every day of my life. This change no one else can bring in me other than me.

Life is all about living in the grey and not always searching for the black & white. As I have the ability to only change myself and not others, hence I have no right to club them in either extreme.

Birthday Pinks

There are times when all you want to do is sit down and breathe.  Take in all that is happening all around and not question it. Let every thought just settle down in such a way that it does not come back to haunt. Ideally this should happen every day so that we carry no extra emotional baggage. But most of us realize our worst fears when alone. We always wonder why someone likes or dislikes our company when the fact is we hate spending time with ourselves.  No wonder we value company of others more than our own. We chase people who we think complete us knowing very clearly that no one can fill the void left by our own self.

What is reality and what is a myth is very difficult to ascertain. What may seem real today may tomorrow become a distant memory slowly becoming a myth. Say for example how many of us still cry and miss our very first crush. Frankly there is a fat chance that we may even get the name right. The truth is, this crush then seemed surreal; it was not a crush it was true love but today nay! No where close. But do I still cry when I cut my finger, yes I do! The pain remains the same and is very much real.

Now I had heard somewhere that if you try to hold sand very tight it will keep oozing out from the gap. So the same way if you hold every memory of every person tightly there is a fat chance that the best memory will slip away. I guess the memories that we make ourselves will never slip by…

Wonder why I right all this gibberish!  Well I am sitting in retrospection to ensure that I will need none of it in future…

Who says I am growing old. I am just trading my age for wisdom… Nothing comes free not even love!

Cheers to all those who have made my life a big holiday...
